ABOUT US

Our History

The International Relations Council (IRC) of Berkeley was founded in the Fall of 2016 by five student organizations: Delta Phi Epsilon, UC Berkeley Model United Nations, Berkeley Model United Nations, Sigma Iota Rho, and Amnesty International. The mission of the Council is to consolidate interest in international relations, dialogue on global issues, and encourage cooperation between organizations related to the field of international relations at UC Berkeley.

In order to raise awareness of global issues and provide students with opportunities to engage with international relations, history, and politics on a professional platform, the IRC hosts several semesterly events, in addition to publishing our bi-weekly podcast “The GlobeBears”, and maintaining a platform for active discussions on current affairs

Emily Eaton

Emily is a senior studying Political Science (with a concentration in Comparative Politics) and Legal Studies. In her free time she enjoys baking, embroidery, watching movies/tv, and exploring new places with friends and family.

Chris Ojeda

Chris began his academic career at Moorpark College before transferring to Berkeley, majoring in political science with a minor in public policy. Besides IRCB, Chris is secretary of the Alexander Hamilton Society's Cal chapter, is co-chairing a musume committee on indigenous immigrants from Mexico, and competes for the UC Berkeley Model United Nations Team.

Adriana Escalante is a senior year Political Science major with a sub-specialization in International Relations. Her hobbies include drawing, cutting bobs, and baking.

Safa Basravi is a fourth-year studying Political Economy and Public Policy with a concentration in Development, Technology, and the Environment. Her hobbies include: cooking, vintage fashion, and 20th century war nonfiction!

Mokshi Patel

Mokshi Patel is a Junior majoring in Political science with concentration on comparative politics and minoring in philosophy. My interests are in the education sector in developing countries in the continent of Africa, and how to increase the literacy rates within these regions. My hobbies are playing field hockey, exploring new cuisine, traveling/learning new cultures and thrifting!

Maneh Davityan is a sophomore majoring in Legal Studies and Global Studies. Along with IRC, she is involved in the Undergraduate Legal Honor Society, Berkeley Legal Studies Journal, and Armenian Students Association. Her hobbies include reading, baking, watching movies, and hanging out with her friends and family.

Isabella is a senior majoring in Media Studies with an emphasis in Global Cultural Studies. When she is not seriously studying, she learns Japanese, spends time with her cat Betsy, and parties with her girls.
